Weekly Round-Up

January 10, 2012

-

Why hello there! Another installment of the Weekly Round-up is coming right at you. Let me apologize for this late entry. Alot going on in the world of the EWA as we are on what the cool kids say "The Home Stretch". Actually, I've never heard anyone cool say that but it sounded like something cool to say. Which looking back, is probably another failure. Such is life. Moving on...

-

We are just 3 days away from "Friday the 13th, Do you feel lucky?" and im jacked! Adam Cole makes his long awaited return to the place he got his start and won his first title. It just so happens that title is what he will be chasing once more as he takes on Trent Farrell for the Cruiserweight title. Definitely looking forward to this match. -

In what looks like could be dubbed the "Double Main Event", The Heavyweight Champion has had his challenger named. "The Baltimore Butcher" Blood will eye up ECW Original Chad Austin on the 13th of January. If my memory serves me correctly, Austin has never head a Heavyweight Title. Could be history in the making...

-

All of the other match-ups have been announced and can be seen by visiting the bottom of the homepage. Always keep in mind kiddos that the card is always subject to change.

-

Anyone out there see the exclusive video brought to you by Shaun Cannon and Sports Management International? (If you didn't, then go watch that...go along now...i'll wait...ok. Done? Don't lie to me. Yeah, that's what she said....Ok. Back to important things...). Shaun Cannon had no idea who his opponent would be but his SMI Agents Drew Reynolds and Brett Sugar took it upon themselves to find one for him. Not only did we learn who Cannons partner would be as he takes on Maryland's favorite tag team The Hell Cats AKA Dem Cats, we also learned that have made another signing to their agency. Chris Burns was announced as the newest member of SMI. If you remember, Burns and Cannon had a bit of a dislike for one another not too long ago. It looks like Cannon isn't the only one to cross over the dark-side. Green can do that to people. Unless it's the green of The Hell Cats...That makes you want Doritos. You know, because with alot of money, you can buy alot of Doritos. (See how I did that? Sweet isn't it?)

-

There has been a crazy flooding of tag-teams to the EWA and that is something that absolutely awesome. EWA was founded on on great tag team action and it's great to see the rings of Parkville will get their healthy dose of hot tags and blind tags. I know I know, I shouldn't break kayfabe. Didn't have a kit kat handy, so get over it.

-

I hope to see you all at the EWA event this Friday in Parkville, MD. if you already haven't done so, please reserve your tickets now. Remember, you can do so without paying a red (it's really copper) cent. Reserve your tickets free and don't make a payment until you pick your tickets up at the event. See the homepage to find out how

If this was the wild west, then some man would be blazing into the saloon and putting his arm around some cowboys girl, a war of words would break out and then we would be looking on in the dust clouded dirt road as the two men were about to draw on one another.

-

That's been the week in the EWA. The dust has been stirred up

-

When hearing of current RoH star & former EWA Cruiserweight champion Adam Cole making his awaited EWA return to challenge current champion Trent Farrell, I was stoked. The much more polished Cole is the longest reigning EWA Cruiserweight Champion in history with a lengthy 16 month title reign. Thinking of this as 'Homecoming' of sorts for Cole, I was a bit taken back as he sent us a special message by video on the EWAMaryland.com homepage. Cole was just as snarky as he was when he left the EWA for Ring of Honor. Confidence swaying to cockyness just as it always had from Cole. I guess I was expecting a more humbled return of Adam Cole. But it looks like we have the same Cole we left with. One thing can be said for a cocky athlete, they leave open opportunities. Opportunities is something Trent Farrell is no stranger to. He received an opportunity, took advantage of it and now stands today the EWA Cruiserweight champion. Some say he doesnt deserve it. Some say it is a fluke. Yet all he has done up to this point is just win. I guess Trent Farrell is sorta like the Tim Tebow of the EWA! Well, without the lord on his side, or the charming good looks...or arms the size of cannons...or a heisman trophy. Whatever. All he is does is "Just Win Baby!". Need I say more? The war of words has been struck by both and now it's on. If you haven's seen the two videos from both men, then I suggest going to News page, scrolling down and checking them out.

-

Sticks and stones may break my bones and Wesley Mercer will hurt me. Well not me, but Eric C. Jones. Strong words coming out of the Mercer camp this week as he not only let it be known that this is a important match for him to get back on the right foot, but a match that he will certainly hurt EWA newcomer Eric C. Jones. Mercer kinda reminds me of that Angelica girl from the old Nickelodean show Rugrats. He isn't just mean, He is spiteful and conniving. Mercers video promo just assures that he has issues. Like seriously. For Christmas, someone should of bought him a gift card to a psychologist.

-

Is it okay to stare at another woman if they are wrestling without being smacked by my wife? That is the question on January 13th, 2012 that I will get answered. Onyx debuts for EWA and she is a looker. She can wrestle a broom and i'd still watch. So I will be highly intrigued and my eyes will be glued. I'll use "I'm watching wrestling" as an excuse and see how far that gets me. Beautiful woman, wrestling...just give me nachos and im in heaven. Really looking forward to the former Bronco Billie of Women Of Wrestling has in store for EWA on Friday the 13th.

-

(We pause this writing for our Berger Cookie break. Berger Cookies are on sale at all EWA events, Local Royal Farms and by visiting www.bergercookies.com...PS Corey Berger, I am out of Berger Cookies..............(taking bite)...........right now. So I need a re-fill. Thanks )

December 24, 2011

The Holidays are nearing closer and closer and so are the happenings of the Eastern Wrestling Alliance. The next event is just on the other side of the 2011 fence. Before you know it, it will be Friday, January 13th, 2012 and we will all be sitting in Tall Cedars Hall in Parkville, MD anticipating another great night of EWA pro wrestling action.

-

Someone in the EWA offices have outdone themselves with this coming event as it coincidentally falls on the ever-unpredictable Friday the 13th. The event has thus been property titled "Friday the 13th, Do you feel lucky?". Let me be the first to publicly answer that question. NO. None of the EWA wrestlers should feel lucky. Why you ask???

-

All matches on this event will be drawn at random. No wrestler will have any idea on what kind of match they will be competing in until it's match time. This hinders all preparation to gain the edge on an opponent. Think of the possibilities. Ladder matches, Chain matches, Bull Rope matches, Street fights, Last man standing. Maybe we can see the first Sumo match? Or how about the loser wears a dress! Ehh on second thought, let's scratch that. No one wants to see any man in a dress...except maybe Bamm Bamm circa 2010. Perfect segway...

-

JD 'Bamm Bamm' Roberts is the reigning Maryland Champion. The Baltimore Butcher Blood is the reigning Heavyweight champion. Trent Farrell reining as Cruiserweight champion and the masked duo The Super Pheonix's holding the tag staps. All of these men will be putting their titles on the line in a match that they don't even know of yet. A hard task at hand for any competitor. But if they lose, what a way to lose them. Can't help but to maybe feel a little cheated? Such is life in the EWA. Everyone has to be on their A game. No rest for the wicked...

-

Maybe above all else, Trent Farrell has the toughest task of all. Not only is he a new champion making his title defense with a stipulation he won't know. He has maybe the toughest opponent of all. Former EWA Cruiserweight champion and Current Ring of Honor supertar, Adam Cole. Cole lit the EWA on fire as well as many other north eastern independent circuits for the past several years. Now hitting it nationwide with Ring of Honor, Cole has elevated his game to new grounds. Are these grounds that Farrell can raise to himself? Well he'll have to if he has a chance in retaining his Cruiserweight title. Just my own personal opinion, I am a fan of Farrell but if im a betting man (which im not), id be putting my money on Mr. Adam Cole.

-

Newcomer Eric C. Jones lost a match recently to former Cruiserweight Champion Shaun Cannon. Jones squares off against another former champion Wes Mercer on January 13th. On the front of Cannon and Mercer (who both still very much hate each other), Both former champions have been relatively quiet as of late. Something tells me that will change very shortly. Neither are every short of words. The longer you hear silence, the more diabolical the two become. It's probably a bad thing that both of them think of very disturbing things and that they both absolutely despise the other. Yeah, thats probably not good.

-

I went to the kitchen to eat some left over chicken and I saw it was devoured. Now it turned out that my kid kept picking at it throughout the night but before I found that out, I was a bit scared. I initially hid in the closet because I thought EWA Heavyweight Champion 'The Baltimore Butcher' Blood maybe broke into my house somehow. The champions opponent for "Friday the 13th, Do you feel lucky?" has yet to be named. A birdy told me that Apollo Cruz will be out of action for a few months after facial surgery after the attack of Versace Enterprises Blood & Berg at the Fan Appreciation event on December 3rd. If that's true then Apollo won't be the man having that task as most of us would otherwise expect. I've yet to confirm if Apollo will for sure be out of action and if the surgery has actually takent place. Will let you all know as soon as possible.

-

Don't be sad now. I know we all like Apollo and it's rather upsetting to hear he may not be in action and may be headed for the surgery table...but good news to smile for. HIJYNX is returning to EWA! After getting pumbled at the hands of Versace Enterprises Blood & Berg (notice a trend?), Hijynx was sidelined with injuries. Our favorite prankster is set to return on January 13th...I can't wait to hear more jokes. His are the best.

-

Want an extra smile to wipe away that upsetting news from a couple paragraphs above? If you said no, I am telling you anyway... Womens wrestling returns to EWA on the 13th of January. Who wouldn't want to see attractive women beat the beeping beep beep out of each other? Sounds like a plan to me. I'll bring the nachos (get your own).

-

The plan is to update you guys once a week during the end of the week to touch on the latest happening and share my opinions on the. So check back here on EWAMaryland.com, Subscribe to us on Youtube, Like us on Facebook, Follow us on Twitter and take care...spike your...wait, gimmick infringement. Still do all of that other stuff, but just wear a hat instead.

-

Happy Holidays to all of our EWA fans and supporters out there. May your days be full egg nog and Berger cookies! Till next time...
